Dear Sri1309,
Good morning!! Thanks a lot for your message about the letter to Ms Zoe. I think your letter is very fine. Good luck to everyone on immigration issue!!
I have a question on your solution#4) "granting citizenship to people who have stayed in US for 10 years by rules to pay taxes". The 10 years ----are you talking about several years of study plus several years of working in US in H-1B visa ONLY or for any people who have legally stayed in US for 10 years??? I raise this question because I am curious to know whether I will fit this category. I was a foreign student in US for 10 years and pay foreign student tuition fee in full for 10 years. The first 6 years in several degrees and then back home and then come to US again for professional doctorate degree in 4 years. Originally I find employer to file me the H-1B visa but the quota for Master degree or above is full and then I back home until now. I am sure someone has similar situations to me!!
From other forum, someone said that it is extremely difficult to legalize the illegal aliens due to recent huge economic recession. But if each illegal aliens give non-refundable $5000 immigration entry fee to the country, the country will have about $60 billion fixed income. Then I immediately have thought about if our international students who have stayed in US for 5 years or above give more immigration entry fee to the country, the country will have tremendous cash flow into the economy and may help the economic crisis. I have previously replied to somebody and the link is as below:

Do you think my thought is stupid and unreasonable??? If someone thinks a better idea/thought, please correct my idea. Anyway, good luck to everyone on the immigration issue because this topic is very tough due to recent economic recession!!
Have a nice day!! Thanks a lot!!
I will come to your quesiton, but let me ask the other guys who just responded, a question.
Sunx_2004, Sarala, and ALL
Thanks for the compliments, I'm happy but we will be thrilled if apart from compliments, if you've said that you have just written to change.gov or to atleast one or two reps. Just spend a $10 on postage stamps. Dont think the reps dont read our letters.
If you want a green from me, in your reply, please reply with atleast that you have posted this on change.gov, under Agenda--> Immigration--> Submit your ideas. OK? after really doing it.
when two of you do, it will make 4 others do.. then 16.., read my other thread by searching "Chain reaction".. that too went down the drain..
Now to this post.. Ofcors how can I not include you in this. One of the last points clearly says to give a greencard to anyone who graduates here. Now its upto them to let in quality students., I support filters at entry level into schools or jobs, not to those who have spent 5-10 years here..
My point is 5 years in US legally and 10 years in US legally. No matter if you went to school, or were on H1 from day one.
Also I am sure you have good # of friends in situation like you are in. Pass this message to them also to write and also about IV.
But dont wait for anyone to come and help you out. Create a snowball affect which gathers mass as it rolls.

Please dont use google it is a waste of time - FBI uses its own databases and looks for 'hits' in terms of derogatory information.
Instead lobby for the following:-
1) USCIS should have the authority to ask FBI as to why the namecheck is taking so long and provision to expediate name check if it is has been pending for more than 'x' number of years (probably 2 or 3 i guess).
2) FBI should provide a reason for the delay. Most of the time (80%) the delay is simply because they dont have the time to open your file.
3) Procedure to Pay $500-$1000 to expediate NC (1 week) with a yes or No result. this will all allow FBI to obtain resources to process NCs faster
NC is the next bottle neck that we have to lobby for.
If I search my "Firstname Middlename" there are 10000 hits in google :-). And I know for sure there are few murderers , politicians and movie stars(most of them are arrested atleast once for crime or the other :-)) who have the same first name and middle name as mine back in India.Last name is what makes the full name unique.
My Namecheck was initiated Aug 4th as per TSC IO and is still pending.Looks like I am going to be waiting for a long time.

Good news... I got CPO at 9:05AM.
I raised SR for my case on 9/2 and no response until today morning and raised SR for my wife yesterday night. No changes to my wife application.
I asked my attorney sending an e-mail for TSC streamline process and I do not know whether he acted on it or not.
Good luck every one who are waiting for approval

How about signing for efax, its free for first 30 days and using that send Faxes to senators.
Its easy you just send a email to the Fax Number with document as a attachement
http://home.efax.com/s/r/efax-brand9?VID=33675&gclid=CIL40rnJ3pUCFQykagodvDFGXw
Why we cannot have a EFax facility on this site so that people can send fax to senators.
Sometimes People find Efaxing easier than calling
(especially passive viewers of this site)

I still think, the USA is the best place for democracy loving people. Govt and its agencies try their best to be accountable to law. Now if you want our Immigration issue to be put before IRAQ in the Congress, I would think that is selfishness. I have colleagues whose sons are in IRAQ. For me their lives are more important than my GC. Now that does not mean we stop making our point to Congress.
PRECISELY My point. First it is IRAQ, then it will be the Presidential Elections then something else. The Government has NO time to question the USCIS and NO real motivation either.

No - I am not suggesting that!!
Good to know that.
What I am suggesting is that the right time to take this up is when a recession is not in full swing. Between 2004 (when this law was enacted) and 2007 was a great time to pick this battle. Maybe another year down the line would also be a great time to pick it. Picking up this particular battle right now would probably make YOUR and MY lives much more difficult in the medium term.
I disagree. By not reporting the fraud at workplace, it puts rest of workforce not at level playing field.
Like you and the OP - I am a selfish individual. I will pick up only those fights which are in my interest. I believe that this particular fight is a lose-lose proposition in the current climate. I am disputing your (and OPs) belief that this will be beneficial for you/me/rest of us.
Lets take the example of the same Goldman Sachs manager. Tomorrow ICE comes to him and says you need to get rid of these 50 guys under you. What will he do? He cant increase the budget in the current environment. So he probably will hire a couple of GC holders/Citizens and replaces the whole division (with 50 GC/Citizens besides the 50 'violators') with an offshore team.
You are right. If you are not impacted by fraud, one will be least interested in reporting the fraud. Only when you get impacted, the fraud appears real and serious.
To give you example, There are only 3 people on H-1B at my workplace and none on L1 visa status, so no one cares here about this issue.
BTW - I am a US citizen of Indian origin.
Think about it!!
Now is the time when everybody is thinking in terms of cost cutting. If you create costly disruptions now - then either the company becomes GM and lose out to overseas competitors or migrates the entire division out.
Taking your example further, due to budget constraints, the manager will be more inclined to replace workers to L1 workers to save cost. Do you want this? This will impact people in short term.
.

Bharatpremi,
Thanks for the excellent analysis. One question, your analysis assumes category excess visas goto next category on a per country basis, is this correct ?
Example, EB-1 china number goto EB-2 China ? I thought all EB-1 China numbers are added to the excess pool and then given to most retrogressed EB2 category ?
Thanks for anyone who clarifies this.
No matter how the data is sliced and diced, being EB3-I certainly means a loo...ong wait time ... :)
Well if you are EB3 you are scrwed. I think it's almost worthless waiting for a GC.

Congrats!! good to know. If we can see the trend, I will be very happy man atleast got some attension for forgotten July 2nd souls... :)
Good news guys, my checks have been encashed this morning, looks like they are processing july 2nd cases now, probably because of all the pressure from congressmen and all the complaints that have been going out to uscis-complaints.
Finally some relief, the receipt #'s are printed at back of the check and its starts with SRC so i guess it has been transferred to either CA or TX.
Hang in there guys iam sure all july 2nd filers will surely see their applications processed by early next week.
My details Filed at NCS @ 9:01 am received by R.Mickels

If I hadn't already spent $34 on sending flowers to USCIS, I would have definitely sent a "bon voyage" bouquet to you.
To anyone still thinking about sending flowers, do this woman a favor, and send her flowers instead!
Please don't make fun out of it. Whatever I thought, I conveyed. Please understand and evaluate whether this is really a fact or a joke.

Can we do a blood drive next as protest! seriously. Donate blood as protest and for media attention.
I totally support the blood donation idea. I am pretty sure, a blood donation drive would be front page news on American Red Cross web site also. It should send out a message that the GC is so important to us.
The actual collection of blood hopefully will be fully carried out by the American Red Cross.
Thanks,
h1techSlave
